If you can stand you can paddle! While Stand-up Paddle Boarding is a fairly easy sport to grasp, it is always a good idea to learn the proper techniques right from the start. As a WPA level 1 certified instructor I enjoy teaching beginners and enthusiast. You will leave confident, knowledgeable, and ready to get out on the water.
1.5 Hour Lesson packages include up to a 30 minute session with in-water instruction. After your lesson, you have the remaining hour to hone your newly acquired skills and have fun!
Weekly classes at DePaul University’s they Ray fitness center and teach on Lake MI at Kathy Osterman Beach—a.k.a Hollywood beach for Chicago Paddle Co. in the summer. All yoga classes are beginner friendly with options to advance.
Indoor Season – Oct 1st – June 15th at The Ray Fitness Center
Outdoor Season – June 15th – Sept 4th
**Please arrive at least 15 minutes before class time starts so we can gear up and get to the water! All classes are 50 minutes and weather dependent if outside.
If weather is unsafe to paddle or we don’t have enough people for class we will communicate to you 2 hours before the start of class time via email/text message. If cancelled you can come to another class or paddle at your convenience before the end of the season.
Comfortable clothing with a swim suit underneath. Athletic clothing that wicks water away from the body is ideal. Yoga pants/shorts or rash gards are advisable for sun protection and comfort while moving.
It’s encouraged although not required! We learn in our yoga practice to let go and grow through falling, shaking, and discovering new boundries (safely). In the water you will find a new found sense of freedom and adventure in your practice and life. Classes are done in shallow waters and you will easily be able to get back up and enjoy class. We always start with grounded postures and core awareness to help you tune into the wave and your breath to be “one with the board”.
Parking is available for early morning classes but is limited. Check out pricing and hours here. We highly recommend a taxi, bus, run, bike or walking to the beach.
